I would like to start off by thanking you for electing me as your Detachment Commander for the year 2010-2011, as well as asking for your support throughout the term. I am looking forward to working with each of you
1. Membership: 2011 cards are in; we need to work on collecting the dues and getting it turned in to department. Don’t forget your Jr & Dual members. I know we all have heard it before, Membership is everyone’s responsibility, so sign up all friends and family members that you know are eligible. Gentlemen, Commander Sonnier set our Goals high last yr and we should “Thank Him” for a job well done; however I feel us the Great State of Texas needs to help our very own National Commander “David Dew” by setting & Achieving an even higher Goal this Year. So let’s all work hard to show how great “Team Texas” is…
2. Participation: I would like to see representation of all Division Commanders, District Commanders and Squadrons at Fall & Mid-winter D.E.C., and Detachment Convention. Don’t forget that all District Commanders now receive full call in for attending any or all Detachment D.E.C.s.
3. Projects: Keep up the projects and programs that you have been running in your community’s. Don’t forget about Child Welfare, Josh Dog, Children’s Miracle Network and Scottish Rite Hospitals. Keep up your hard work and Donations; we need support from each of you. My Personal Project in the American Legion Family is Children & Youth. I ask that each of you try to do one or more of the American Legion projects that are in: VA & R, Americanism or Children & Youth. Reminder : “I have asked each of our chairmen to work on a special project within their committee” Americanism – Boys State; V A & R – Fisher House; Children & Youth – Josh dogs; CWF & CMN – will be just what it stands for; they will each give us approx. up to a 5min speech on what their respective project is about.
4. Reports: Keep track of all your Man Hours and Donations for VA & R, Americanism, and Children & Youth; this will help you when filling out your reports. Please take the time to fill out these reports and turn them in, so that each of you can receive the recognition that you deserve. If anyone needs help filling these reports out Please contact your District Commander or myself.
Reminder: I am available to speak at District Conventions, Hold Elections, Install Squadron Officers, and help with Starting a new Squadron. If you are holding a Benefit, Fund raiser or any type of Event Let me know, this would be a great time for me to visit your Squadron. Remember Give me an advance notice to any Event your Post maybe having and I will try my Best to attend it.
In closing I would like to thank you again for intrusting me with the position of this office. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
