We the Detachment of Texas are asking you the Squadrons to please donate what you can in a monetary way, if able please try to donate at least $25 to $50.00 or more if you are able.

I would like to thank everyone for their donations of clothing and money, to help the families of the Bastrop wildfire. The response was over whelming, we haven't been able to sort through all the clothes. At this this time we have no more need for clothes or supplies, if the need araises I wiil let you know. What we need is monetary donations, the 12th District Auxiliary is going to talk this weekend about fundraisers. It would be great if the S.A.L. would work with the Auxiliary to raise money. I believe there may be some other fundraisers in the 1st Division, Shirley Paul is working on setting up. Round Rock Squadron #447 is having a raffle with the proceeds to go to Christmas presents for the children of families that have lost everything. If anyone would like to help with this you can contact me bpackd2b@yahoo.com or 512-789-5692. Thanks again for everything, everyone has done, to help the families in Bastrop. You came through when they needed you the most, they are very appreciative for all you have done.

To date we have received over $195,900 in donations of clothing, household goods etc. We have received over $31,700 in moneteray donations and have had over 6300 hours of volunteer time turned in.

I visited Post 533 and went to the Auxiliary and S.A.L. Meetings on Sunday, money is still coming in. Over 10,000 dollars in gift cards has been received, The American Legion has received about 15,000 dollars. The Post 533 Family had a total of 25 households of their family members burned out, 7 S.A.L., 6 Auxiliary, 15 Legion, 3 are couples,. The American Red Cross is taking all clothes now. The Pods are also being moved out. Thanks to everyone who donated, the response was overwhelming. Thanks to U-Haul of Austin. The Auxiliary and The S.A.L. account will be divided to fire victims equally. They have run out beds and are having more brought from U-Haul this week, when they pick up the pods. FEMA is bringomg in trailers this week for burnt out families. The trailers are supposed to be furnished and have washer and dryer hookups, but washer and dryers. The Post is look on Craig’s List, and like sites to locate any they can purchase. If anyone has a washer or dryer they would like to donate, let us know. All costs saved are going to help more veterans in need. Squadron #447 is going help families with children with Christmas this year. If anyone would like to help, you can contact me. Thanks again for everything you have done to help, keep the monetary donations coming in.

A Very Special Thanks to U-Haul for supplying storage for the donations and the victims of the fire.

I would like to thank everyone for their generous donations this past weekend, monetary and supplies. Special thanks to Gary Winters and Jimmy Don Dixon from Sqn. #231, Gary Paul Sqn. #71, Joe McPeters Sqn. #517, Santiago Betancourt Sqn. #76, and our Leading Candidate for S.A.L. National Commander Chris Huntzinger from Penbrook Pennslyvania, for their help with organizing clothing in Bastrop on Friday at the D.E.C. Looking for volunteers to go back out there on Saturday October 1st, we only have the uhaul pods till the 11th. So we need to reorganize everything and get in the 40 ft storage unit. Plus 83 took out their last truck load, got 30 beds coming from uhaul and know of 4 more truck loads coming this weekend.
Thanks again. ------ Brad Pack
