Jeff Alvis' son commissioned 2nd Lieutenant

My son Matthew Alvis was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Reserve and served in Iraq in 2006. He is 25 years old. On December 15, 2007 he graduated from the university of Texas at Tyler and that same day, in an impressive ceremony, received his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant. Until that day I had never thought I would hug a Marine Corp Lieutenant, but I did. I am not sure if this is good material for our web site but it is good military news.
