Ride2Recovery Cyclists and Legion Family and City officials in Cleburne during the Texas Challenge that began in San Antonio Mar 30 and concluded April 4 in Arlington. The American Legion Auxiliary is a National Sponsor of this program. The cyclists left Brooks Army Medical Center in San Antonio and went to San Marcos the first night. Then Austin, Fort Hood, Waco, and Cleburne. American Legion Riders accompanied them part of the way from Killeen to Waco and escorted them from Waco to Cleburne and on to Arlington where they threw out the first ball for April 4 Rangers game. In Cleburne and Alvarado, S.A.L. members were there to welcome the wounded warriors to town. Squadron 50 in Cleburne donated towards their goal of funding a "spin lab" for rehabilitation. Over $7000.00 was raised in the Sixth District. Most of these veterans served in Irag and Afghanistan and are still going through rehab. Vietnam veterans and movie stars ( Christi Swanson and Adam Baldwin) and nationally-known writers and reporters.
